OpenText, Benevolence Technologies partner and a global leader in Enterprise Content Management has been named a 2018 Leader in Content Services Platforms by Gartner’s Magic Quadrant. The report notes the influence of new cloud, social collaboration, mobile, and analytics technologies on OpenText’s work and how OpenText has responded to fully utilize these new trends in their products.
In a year ago’s Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Gartner analysts and authors Karen A. Hobert, Gavin Tay and Joe Mariano reclassified ECM as, “a set of services and microservices, embodied either as an integrated product suite or as separate applications that share common APIs and repositories, to exploit diverse content types, and serve multiple constituencies and numerous use cases across an organization.”
This year, Hobert, Tay and Mariano, with additional author Michael Woodbridge, ditched the ECM term completely, refering to a move “from self-contained systems and repositories to open services.”
At the end of the day, Content Services Platforms (CSP) are the new ECM, as indicated by Gartner.
According to the Gartner report, “The worldwide content services software revenue totaled $9.6 billion in 2017 (up from $8.4 billion in 2016). The overall market grew 15.7% in U.S. dollars in 2017 (down from 16.0% in 2016).”
